Prior to Layer 9, Michael held various leadership roles for Digital Realty and DuPont Fabros Technology, served in portfolio management at Equity Office Properties and worked within the investment banks at JP Morgan and Mitsubishi Tokyo Financial Group.

Dax Simpson is a highly experienced professional in the Data Center Infrastructure industry, boasting an impressive career spanning 17 years. With a solid foundation of 9 years in Information Technology and Networks, Dax embarked on his journey in the realm of Data Centers at Grupo UPS of Panama (Emerson Network Power VAR). His exceptional performance as the leader of Commercial Management for 7 successful years earned him recognition and commendation.

Continuing his upward trajectory, Dax transitioned to Kio Networks, initially assuming the role of Regional Infrastructure Manager. Within a year, his dedication and expertise led to a well-deserved promotion as Data Center Operations Manager, marking his arrival in Mexico in 2013. The following year, Dax was appointed as Infrastructure Director, where he skillfully spearheaded the expansions and operations of Grupo Kio for an impressive 8-year tenure.

Eager to embrace new challenges, Dax joined the esteemed Digital Bridge infrastructure group. He embarked on his journey at Mexico Telecom Partners as the VP of Edge & Mission Critical Solutions, successfully spearheading the development and implementation of the Edge Data Centers business unit. Demonstrating his strategic prowess and execution capabilities, Dax achieved remarkable results. Subsequently, he took on the role of Head of Mexico and Director of LATAM Business Development at Scala Data Centers, further showcasing his leadership and expertise in the industry.

Now, as Dax Simpson assumes the position of Director of Platform Delivery at Layer 9 Data Centers, his wealth of experience and comprehensive skill set come to the forefront. Additionally, Dax holds a Computer Science Engineering degree, an MBA in Enterprise Management, a High Management Program Degree from the esteemed IPADE Business School, and several recognized technical certifications of the Data Center industry. In his new role, Dax leads the process of engineering, construction, and consultative technical sales, with a mission to exceed client expectations by delivering high-quality, technologically advanced, and efficient solutions. Dax's commitment to providing a "Just-in-Time" finished product of superior quality, cutting-edge technology, and optimal efficiency further solidifies his dedication to elevating the client experience in the ever-evolving data center industry.

Jose Buganza Debernardi

Jose Buganza Debernardi

José is an executive with 30+ years of experience in diverse industries, including over 20 years in the energy sector and 10+ years specifically in electricity. He has a strong background in regulation, project evaluation, new business models, pricing, and credit and risk management. José played a pivotal role in Mexico's energy reform, coordinating efforts between private and government sectors to establish market rules and implement the Wholesale Electricity Market as the Deputy Managing Director at the Ministry of Energy.
Following his work in the Ministry of Energy, José served as CFO at the National Center for Energy Control (CENACE), where he spearheaded the implementation of financial systems for the Wholesale Electricity Market. This included overseeing the clearing house for power long-term auctions and developing a risk management system. Currently, José serves as the CEO of Enegence, a regulatory and strategic consulting company that also provides software solutions for Wholesale Electricity Market participants and engages in trading operations.
José holds a master's degree in management from Stanford University and a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering from Universidad de las Americas in Puebla, Mexico.
Gerry Jepson

Gerry Jepson is a retired executive that brings over 35 years of Data Center experience. During his career he specialized in Design, Construction and Operation of some of the most complex Data Centers in the industry.
Prior to retirement, Mr. Jepson was a Managing Partner for CPG Beyond, LLC; a national service provider to the data center sector headquartered in Ashburn, Virginia. During his 8-year tenure at CPG , Gerry was responsible for developing a National Service organization that specialized in Facility Operations, HVAC Maintenance, Switchgear Maintenance, QA/QC Services, Commissioning and Battery Service programs. Under Mr. Jepson’s leadership, CPG grew revenues from $5M in 2014 to $200M in 2020; and much of that growth was focused on driving hyperscale solutions to many of today’s largest CSP’s and Colocation Providers globally.
Prior to joining CPG , Mr. Jepson served at Total Site Solutions (TSS) where he oversaw the day-to-day sales and operations of all TSS’s Mission Critical Services. Earlier in his career, Gerry held leadership roles for Lee Technologies as the SVP of Sales and Operations. Mr. Jepson was responsible for building the Lee Technologies service team from the first employee where his stewardship led to the placement of many executives in the mission critical sector. He is considered by his peers as a thought leader in the mission critical space.
Chris Altomare

Chris Altomare has dedicated his career to developing the commercial real estate and construction industry. As an owner/operator for over 30 years, Altomare has steered the electrical contracting of hundreds of technical infrastructure projects. During this time, he has also been involved in the land development of large-scale real estate projects in Central Oregon.
Currently, Altomare is President of Network Environments, a firm that designs and builds customized prefabricated data center solutions to serve hyperscale operators, cloud, mobile compute, edge, and colocation providers worldwide.
His experience in both greenfield land development and technical construction provides Altomare with the right mix of industry expertise to guide intelligent business strategies for the Layer 9 team.
Maria Kenny

Maria Kenny

Maria Kenny is a highly accomplished industry leader within the technology sector, with an exceptional track record in the realms of real estate and data center operations. With a wealth of experience in real estate finance and transactions, Maria has demonstrated a multi-disciplined approach and focus on driving value throughout her career. Notably, she played a pivotal role in the 2007 - $658 Million (IPO) of DuPont Fabros Technology a prominent data center real estate investment trust (REIT), listed as NYSE:DFT. Ms. Kenny subsequently served DuPont in later years as a lead stakeholder in the subsequent sale of DFT to Digital Realty for nearly $8 billion in 2017.

As a tenured digital infrastructure professional, Ms. Kenny possesses an extensive knowledge of development practices that has been recognized through her elevation to the executive leadership team as Chief Development Officer at DFT. In this critical role, she successfully managed an impressive portfolio of over $2 billion in data center development across five tier one data center markets in North America, setting new benchmarks for delivery in the industry. Maria's strategic acumen and outstanding leadership skills were instrumental in driving the growth and success of DFT's data center development endeavors in multiple markets concurrently.

Ms. Kenny’s academic background further strengthens her expertise and proficiency in her field. She holds a distinguished degree in Economics from the University of North Carolina. Additionally, her proficiency as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) further exemplifies her commitment to excellence and adherence to high professional standards.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Maria's passion extends to philanthropic endeavors. She currently serves as the President-Elect of Special Love, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing comprehensive care for children battling cancer. Her involvement in such a noble cause exemplifies her compassionate nature and commitment to making a positive impact within the community.

Ms. Kenny's exceptional career trajectory, combined with her extensive experience in technology real estate and data center operations, positions her as an influential figure as a member of the Layer 9 Board of Managers. Her advocacy of women entering the digital infrastructure space, profound industry knowledge, and unwavering dedication to excellence make her an invaluable to the Layer 9 executive team.

Scott Davis

Scott Davis

Interim Chief Development Officer

Scott A. Davis has over 30 years of Data Center industry experience. During his career he has worked as a consulting engineer specializing in data center design, as well as an owner-operator and a colocation provider. He specialized in the engineering, design and operation of highly reliable, highly efficient Hyperscale facilities.
Mr. Davis was formerly the Chief Technology Officer and Executive Vice President for DuPont Fabros Technology, Inc., (DFT); where he was responsible for the design and management of DFT’s portfolio of Data Centers. During his time at DFT, Scott and his team pioneered several new innovations to data center design, including medium voltage (MV) Isolated-Parallel UPS systems, MV oil-filled PDU’s, together with several cooling innovations that achieved real world PUE’s of 1.15.
Prior to joining DFT, Mr. Davis served for eight years at AOL where he oversaw the day-to-day operations of all of AOL's domestic and international data centers. Earlier in his career, Scott worked for several consulting engineering firms that specialized in data center design and construction, including CCG Facilities Integration. Mr. Davis earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland.

Fernando Limon is CEO of Lemonroy Business Solutions, a company he founded in 2005. LBS Power (www.lbspower.com) serves the critical power market and energy sector and is based in Mexico City with office/warehouse capabilities in the U.S. and Mexico.
LBS provides project-based solutions and a product portfolio comprising transformers, switch gear, cable bus, and UPS. The company serves a wide range of customers including Commercial Construction, Industrial, Data Centers, Medical, Government, and Financial Services. and Generators. Awarded company of the year in Mexico by General Electric and by ABB partners several times through its history.
LBS participated in building, designing, and delivering critical power solutions for the BBVA Data Center in Mexico City, a Tier IV Gold facility, and the largest data center in Latin America in 2016.
Mr. Limon holds an Industrial Engineering degree from Instituto Tecnologico De Estudios Superiores De Monterrey.
